I am Visiting Research Fellow in Sonic Research at London South Bank University. I have research and teaching expertise in popular music studies, music technology and media and cultural studies. I have a particular specialism in electronic music history and creative practices. I research and write on a range of subjects in the field of popular and electronic music, and currently produce music as ghost elektron and Nostalgia Deathstar alongside Martin James. My PhD was a practice-as-research exploration of creative practice in electronic music - music projects from the research were produced under the artist name obe:lus.
I am the co-editor of well received books on Kraftwerk and Brian Eno, am completing work on a book on The Velvet Underground, and have published widely on electronic music, music technology, punk and post-punk and popular music genres. I am Contributing Editor (Music Technology) and International Advisory Board Member for the Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World.
